Ok so maybe you didn't quite get the grades you wanted or maybe you surprised yourself. Either way you are here because you have got a place at University through the UCAS clearing system. Give yourself a pat on the back, smile and relax; you are about to go to university for the best few years of your life!

So now for the subject of accommodation. Don't panic you will find somewhere where you want to stay, it may just take a little bit of time, effort and perseverance, but you will get there, we're sure of it!

We have concocted this little guide to help you find the right place in the quickest possible time with the least amount of stress.

There are two main avenues that we recommend you consider when choosing accommodation for your first year at university; University Halls of Residence and Private Halls of Residence (you could find a private house/flat share but we don't recommend it, from our experience you will find it more difficult to meet new people if you are living away from campus. Save this for your second/third year.)

University Halls of Residence

Unfortunately we don't have any Univerisity managed residences listed on our site, so your first point of contact should be the housing services department at your uni. Contact them as soon as your place has been confirmed and they will be able to provide you with all the relevant information about what is on offer and how to apply.

Depending on which University you are going to the housing departments will be organised slightly differently and the accommodation offered will vary. The key to getting a place is to get your name and if possible your face known. Get yourself down there, call them at least twice a day, basically annoy them into sorting something out for you. Don't take no for an answer, it worked for me and it will work for you!

Don't worry too much about where you get put, just get your foot in the door and get yourself somewhere to sleep at night. If you don't like it or want to move then you will get the opportunity, lots of people leave after a week or so and believe it or not a lot of people don't even turn up, so spaces will become available.

Private Halls of Residence

You have come to the right place to find a room in a Private Hall of Residence, we have loads of them listed on the site and certain amongst them hold rooms back specifically for students who come through clearing, but you will have to be quick though because it is first come first serve and yes believe it or not there are 1000's of students each year who get a place at university through clearing.

Getting a place is relatively simple, If there is space, then you have a room (you just have to make sure that it is within your budget and you can provide the necessary details - easy!)

All the residences on this page have been selected especially for you guys!
